Tribal Epistemology

The condition in which group membership determines what people believe — where truth is assessed by whether a claim is endorsed by one's political tribe rather than by evidence or reasoning.

Discussed at the 2019 DOD session on trust in the context of how factual fragmentation undermines democratic deliberation.
