None of the Above Party (Canada)
The None of the Above Party (NOTA) is a Canadian provincial party registered in Ontario. Its candidates run as independents committed to direct democracy reforms rather than party-line voting. The party's platform centres on what it calls the 3Rs: Referendum (citizens can initiate binding referendums), Recall (voters can remove elected members between elections), and Responsible Government (structural accountability reforms).
The NOTA model is a hybrid: party infrastructure is used to run candidates and raise profile, but elected members are explicitly not bound by party control and are expected to represent their constituents directly.
