Civic Hive
Civic Hive is a Lagos-based civic-tech innovation hub that runs a fellowship programme training civic-tech practitioners — 36 fellows have launched 26 organisations through the programme — alongside building platforms for electoral transparency and citizen participation. Its portfolio includes the Nigeria Election Portal, a Live Results Map, and the West Africa CivicTech Conference, a convening space for the region's civic-tech community.
The organisation sits at the intersection of training, movement-building, and tool-building: it does not just develop civic-tech tools but deliberately grows the community of people who can build, adapt, and sustain them. This pipeline function — from fellowship to organisation to ecosystem — makes it infrastructural in a different way from an organisation that only ships software. Blog posts as of August 2026 confirm active operations.
Civic Hive is one of several organisations in the Democracy Landscape operating in Nigeria — alongside CDD West Africa and BudgIT — and represents the civic-tech training-and-incubation model within that ecosystem, complementing the research (CDD) and transparency-tool (BudgIT) organisations already present.
