PRS Legislative Research

PRS Legislative Research was founded in September 2005 and is housed within the Centre for Policy Research in New Delhi. It provides non-partisan research support to Members of Parliament and state legislators, and makes India's legislative process more accessible to citizens through open tracking tools.

What they do

  • Bills Track — real-time tracking of legislation introduced and pending in Parliament
  • Legislative Briefs — 4–6 page summaries of major bills covering their main provisions and key policy questions
  • MP Track — citizen tool to monitor individual MPs' attendance, questions, debates, and private member bills
  • Session End Summaries — reports on each parliamentary session listing bills passed, introduced, and pending
  • Monthly Policy Reviews — summaries of major policy developments across sectors
