Digidem Lab

Digidem Lab is a Gothenburg-based democracy innovation organisation that designs and implements digital participatory processes. It is an official partner and provider of the Decidim platform (the Barcelona-originated open-source participatory democracy framework) for the Nordic market, adapting the platform's citizen proposals, participatory budgeting, and consultation tools to Swedish and Nordic governance contexts.

The organisation's practice spans three areas: digital citizen participation (Decidim-based processes for municipalities), citizens' assemblies (planning, coordination, and facilitation, working with Göteborg Stad since 2019 on citizens' councils and budgets), and community organising (a vocational training course in community organising for local leadership, run through the Digidem Academy). Current and recent clients include Göteborg Stad (citizens' councils, budgets, and community dialogue), Lunds Kommun (eco-social neighbourhood planning, 2024–2026), People Powered (digitising global participatory democracy processes), and collective digital sovereignty tools.

Digidem Lab is part of the Nordic Deliberation network alongside We Do Democracy, SoCentral, Sitra, and FIDE — the emerging Nordic infrastructure for deliberative and participatory governance.
